The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, will on 13th November 2025, make a pastoral visit and outreach to children in Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District in Ankole Diocese. 

During the visit, the Archbishop will officially launch the Church of Uganda’s Children’s Focus Month 2025 under the theme _“Doing Good for Children”_ drawn from the Provincial Theme for 2025: _“Imitating God’s goodness by doing good.”_ Galatians 6:9–10

Every November, Church of Uganda dedicates the month to celebrating and advocating for children’s wellbeing through the Children’s Ministry across all 39 Dioceses and this year’s activities focus on showing acts of love, giving hope, and amplifying the voices of children especially those in vulnerable communities.

The Children’s Ministry of Church of Uganda plays a central role in mobilizing and coordinating activities for the Children’s Focus Month, working through Diocesan and Parish structures, the ministry equips Sunday School teachers, parents and community leaders to nurture children in Christian values and life skills. It also spearheads advocacy efforts for child protection, education and holistic wellbeing.

Uganda which hosts over 1.8 million refugees, is the third-largest refugee-hosting nation globally and the largest in Africa and Nakivale Refugee Settlement alone is home to approximately 186,000 refugees,m and as of September 2025, there are 97,088 children aged 0–11 years living in the settlement. Many of these children face critical challenges including food shortages, trauma and limited access to education and basic services.

Church of Uganda, through its Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (CoU–HCT), has been at the forefront of responding to these needs since establishing an office at Nakivale in July 2024, orking with partners under the ACT Alliance, the Church has supported over 3,000 refugees through food and non-food relief distribution, psychosocial support, counseling and awareness campaigns on gender-based violence, peacebuilding, and skills training.

According to the Provincial Secretary Rev Can William Ongeng, during his visit, the Archbishop will deliver essential supplies including food, baby blankets, clothes, soap, sanitary pads, school materials, and other items to support over 1,000 children aged zero to 17 years.
