Diocese of Kinkiizi Estates Manager Rev Moses Kabarebe giving a point at the function

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has this morning officially opened a one-day training on the Land Information Management System at the Provincial Secretariat in Namirembe.

The training brings together Diocesan Secretaries and Diocesan Estates Officers from across the 39 dioceses of the Church of Uganda, aiming to equip them with the skills to utilize the new digital system developed by Church Commissioners Holding Company Ltd to address rampant land grabbing and enhance effective land planning.

While opening the session, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu commended Church Commissioners for the innovation and reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to protecting its land and issued a stern warning to all land grabbers, saying the Church would take firm action against any illegal encroachment.

The Archbishop also appreciated the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Planning, under Hon Judith Nabakooba, for providing technical support during the recent mass land registration.

The Archbishop further revealed that Church Commissioners who form the business arm of the Church of Uganda are also spearheading efforts to establish a provident fund for retired bishops and clergy.

The Diocese of Kinkiizi is being represented by the Diocesan Secretary Rev Canon Gad Njemura Tibaijuka and the Diocesan Estates Manager Rev Moses Kabarebe.
