The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon has addressed Senior Police and Prisons officers attending a Senior Command course at the Police Senior Command and Staff College in Bwebajja in Wakiso.
Justice Byabakama Mugenyi explained their roles, rights, duties and responsibilities in the electoral process, emphasizing following the law while enforcing law and order during elections.
He stressed the critical role elections play in safeguarding peace, security, and stability, noting that free, fair and credible elections are the responsibility of all stakeholders.
The training comes at a time when the country is preparing for the general elections slated for February next year where the Police and Prisons are expected to play a big security role.
