Kajara People’s SACCO Limited has announced plans to reward members who mobilise and bring new members to join its Rwamabondo branch in Ntungamo District.
The SACCO’s Board Chairman, Maj General Wills Byarugaba, said that the initiative is aimed at encouraging more people to join the financial institution and strengthen its membership base.
Gen Byarugaba made the remarks during a stakeholders’ meeting of Kajara People’s SACCO Limited, Rwamabondo Branch, held at Rwamabondo Town Council in Kajara County, Ntungamo District.
The meeting was held under the theme, “Envisioning Our SACCO for a Better Future: Using and Growing Our New Branch.”
Gen Byarugaba also revealed that Kajara People’s SACCO had opened another branch in Nakawa, Kampala, to serve people from Ntungamo District who reside in the capital.
He said the new branch would enable members to transfer money directly from Kampala to Ntungamo without carrying cash, thereby reducing the risk of theft.
The chairman urged the public to embrace cashless transactions by depositing their money in accounts with Kajara People’s SACCO, Rwamabondo Branch, instead of keeping large amounts of cash on hand.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Mobilisation Committee, Danson Twinomujuni, encouraged the public to join Kajara People’s SACCO, citing its track record and experience in providing savings and credit services.
Twinomujuni cautioned members against joining newly established SACCOs without carefully assessing their reliability and sustainability, warning that some could collapse and put members’ savings at risk.
He said Kajara People’s SACCO had operated for more than 24 years, earning the trust of members through its savings and credit services.
The chairman Loans committee Akim Kyagera, revealed that the SACCO was introducing a Chapa Loan product intended to help members add value to their land.
He also announced plans for an end-of-year Ekiterekye, or bonanza, at the Rwamabondo Branch.
The Kajara People’s SACCO’s General Manager, Yusuf Akamukwatsa, expressed satisfaction with the public response to the Rwamabondo Branch, saying a number of people had joined since it opened about 10 months ago.
Kajara People’s SACCO has six branches across the country.
Other speakers at the meeting included Rwamabondo Branch Manager Sydon Tukwatsibwe and Denis Kamahanga.
