KASESE– National Resistance Movement- NRM Youth Delegates in Kamaiba ward Central division in Kasese municipality have opposed the proposal to endorse sole candidature for the party.
While speaking to media today afternoon at Kamaiba primary school NRM youth of Kamaiba wardled by Mr Wilson Isebayanda and Eve Masika disagreed with the few NRM members who are misleading the municipality MP claiming to endorse him as a sole candidature.
They observed that many youth are being groomed to become potential politicians and questioned why sole candidature is only perpetuated in Kasese municipality but not in other political areas and posts. They cite selfish motives as being behind some NRM members who are pushing for it.
Costa Bwambale and Kobusinge Jamila asked NRM cadres not to mislead the youth and asked them to follow the NRM policies and human rights acts that encourage fair competition, adding that sole candidature is an act of dictatorship if it is reached at without consensus.
Some other youths advised the current NRM leaders in the municipality to fulfill the pledges they made during the last 2021elections.The challenges among others.
Youth noted that include youth unemployment, low lobbying for the youth on government programs, water and land challenges, and others in health and education sectors they are not willing to be consulted on the issue of sole candidature since the majority follow the NRM manifesto and are not consulted when such unpopular decisions are being made.
