The digital revolution has just landed in yellow! On Wednesday, 12 November, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni switched gears on political mobilization and citizen engagement , launching a brand-new NRM App that’s set to take the ruling party’s message straight to the palms of Ugandans — literally!

The grand launch went down at Mbale State Lodge, with top government officials, party mobilizers, tech brains, and leaders of the Activity-Based Mobilizers (ABM) structure turning up in style.

Developed under the coordination of the State House Local Content Unit, the App is powered by the ABM countrywide mobilization framework and supervised by SPA Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi.

Lead developer-tech whizz-Ronald Katamba and his crew says the App promises to revolutionize how NRM communicates, mobilizes, and engages citizens across the country under a unified platform.

“TECH IS THE FUTURE,” SAYS M7

In his remarks, President Museveni said it was time for political movements to embrace technology if they want to reach more people — especially the youth. He said the App will bridge the gap between leaders and ordinary citizens, allowing real-time communication, verified updates, and direct feedback from the grassroots.

He emphasized that the NRM App represents a strategic step in reducing information gaps between leaders and communities while promoting transparency and participation.

The project also aligns with the State House Local Content Unit’s mission to promote Ugandan technological solutions and empower local innovators.

A Comprehensive Digital Mobilization Tool

The NRM App—based on the National Outreach & Communication App blueprint—was created to solve long-standing challenges in communication, event coordination, citizen feedback collection, and the sharing of verified information.

1. Real-Time Verified Updates

The App provides authenticated national updates, policy information, community announcements, and mobilization messages, ensuring that citizens receive accurate and trustworthy information.

2. Live streaming of National and Party Events

With an integrated livestreaming module, users can watch major national events, presidential addresses, conferences, and community engagements from anywhere in the country, improving inclusiveness and participation.

3. Citizen Registration and Participation

Through its Android and iOS interfaces, users can register, receive notifications, access news feeds, participate in polls and surveys, and submit structured feedback—enhancing two-way communication between leaders and citizens.

4. Administrator Web Dashboard

Leaders and mobilizers can manage users, content, livestream sessions, media archives, and analytics through a centralized dashboard offering a birds-eye view of national engagement activities.

5. Media Library and Offline Access

The App contains an archive of photos, videos, reports, and past livestreams. Offline access allows users in low-connectivity areas to view saved content.

6. Multilingual Support and Analytics

With multiple local languages, the App is accessible to diverse communities. Its analytics module enables leaders to track participation, measure engagement, and understand public opinion for informed decision-making.

Trust, Transparency, and Good Governance

Because the platform relies on verified digital communication, it strengthens public trust and reduces misinformation. It also provides leaders with data-driven insights into community needs, improving planning and service delivery.

Built for Sustainability and Future Growth

The NRM App is designed as a long-term digital solution with the capacity to scale. Its architecture supports future additions such as e-learning modules, digital services, and expanded data systems. A dedicated technical team and strategic partnerships with telecom and technology partners ensure continuous maintenance and broad accessibility.

BUILT BY UGANDANS, FOR UGANDA

SPA Hajjat Aminah Mukalazi hailed the project as proof that Ugandan innovators can deliver world-class digital solutions. She praised lead developer Katamba Ronald for crafting a system that is secure, simple, and scalable.

A Milestone in Uganda’s Digital Mobilization Journey

The launch of the NRM App at Mbale State Lodge marks a pivotal moment for Uganda’s digital transformation. With its integrated livestreaming, verified communication, multilingual support, and citizen participation tools, the App sets a new standard for political and community engagement.

Now available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the NRM App is accessible to millions of Ugandans, bringing verified communication and national events directly to their mobile devices.

More than just a technological tool, the NRM App is a national platform for unity, empowerment, and modern governance, ushering Uganda into a new era of digital political mobilization.

Insiders say the App will play a key role as the country heads toward 2026 — making NRM the first political party in Uganda to go fully digital in its grassroots mobilization.
