NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 25 year old man identified as Muhabura Amon a resident of Kishejere village in Bujengwe Parish in Kayonza Sub county.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that they received information from the Area Chairperson of Kakuliju village in Kyeshero Subcounty that a dead body was seen in the bush near Munyaga Bridge in Butogota Town Council.
Maate said that after receiving the information, a team of Police officers commanded by Butogota Police Station Apollo Mbazira visited the scene and retrieved the body and took it to Kihihi Health Centre 1V Mortuary for postmortem examination.
It’s alleged that the deceased left home three years back and went to Kihihi for casual work since then he had not gone back up to yesterday when his body was found lying in the bush and a small phone was found in his pocket which was used to contact the mother who managed to go to the scene to identify him.
The case was registered at Butogota Police Station under reference number SD 08/24/03/2024 to help in investigations and if found the culprits will be charged accordingly.
Meanwhile the Police in Kabale District investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Elias Twizeye of Rwandeese origin who has been a casual worker and resident of Kirisa Village in Nyombe Parish in Kahungye Subcounty.
Maate told journalists that information was received by the Officer in Charge of Kahungye Police Post from Kabemera Sunday the Area chairman Nyombe village, that there were unknown men who were found in Nyombe Trading Centre who had broken into the shop belonging toTugyendenawe Michael and stole his shop items.
Tugyendenawe is reported to have made an alarm that that attracted local residents who tried to arrest and the suspected thieves who resisted leading to an escape of one, where the deceased was lynched on the spot.
The matter was registered at Kahungye Police Post, and by the time the Police rushed to the crime scene, they found that the victim had been lynched and a team of officers from Kabale visited the scene and documented it and statements were obtained and the deceased was later Identified as Twizeye Elias who was working at the home of the late Ndagijimana of Kinisa village Nyombe Parish in Kahungye Sub county in Kabale district and the body was then taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination as the authorities await the deceased relatives from Rwanda to reclaim the body and inquiries on going and efforts to get those involved are being made so that are arraigned before courts of law.
Maate said that the case of murder by mob was registered at Kabale Central Police Station under reference number CRB CRB 257/2024 to help in further investigations.
