The Minister of Health Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi has launched new modern cancer equipment at Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI), Mulago at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The new consignment – donated under the CANCAP-UG Project with the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH).
These invlude the Radical hysterectomy surgical sets, Portable ultrasound machines with biopsy guide, HD video endoscope and audiometry screening machines, 4 autoclave sterilizing units and 2,000 HPV DNA test cartridges, collection media, cervix brushes and Pap smear kits for early cervical cancer screening ffce

The equipment was handed over at the UCI 6th Level Building Parking Lot and will be distributed to regional cancer centers in Gulu, Arua, Mbale and Mbarara to bring services closer to communities.
Minister Baryomunsi who officitaed as a Chief Guest joined celebrations for patients who have survived cancer and noted that the acquisition of the equipment was a milestone that will go a long way to ensure that cancer patients get treatment early enough.
