The Minister of Education and Sports, The First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni has said that the 20% increase in the number of candidates who sat for UCE Examinations under the second cohort of the lower secondary Competence Based Curriculum is affirmation of improved retention of learners in schools and low absenteeism levels attributed to improvements in the National education systems.
Mrs Museveni who has presided over the release of the 2025 UCE Examinations results at Nakasero State Lodge under the 2nd cohort of the lower secondary Competence Based Curriculum explained that the extra 73,000 candidate of the 432,163 candidates confirm the applicability of the new curriculum into the desired learning environment and commended all stakeholders in the education sector for their swift adoption to the new curriculum.
This she said with comparison to the 2024 UCE Candidates performance compared against their total number of 359,417 candidates

The First Lady Maama further guided on the new grading system and categorisation of candidates performance from Result 1, 2 and 3 and what each signifies as per the Uganda National Examinations Board grading system.
The Minister of Education and Sports affirms that Uganda is still on the revolutionary path of its homeland education system through further revision of primary and A-level curricular to fit into the already established lower secondary Competence Based Curriculum.
Mrs Museveni disclosed that the National Curriculum Development Center is undertaking the review of all other spects of the education system including the primary and A-level curricular for uganda to fully attain its holistic liberation in reference several academic guidqnce literature in the same context.
Mrs Museveni commended the National Education management bodies including the UNEB for fostering progressive interventions and advised parents and learners to broaden the scope of their education options beyond academics to Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as another sure path to success.
She also guided that that national education sphere has broad academic integration options for learners with credible and similar academic accreditation systems and has rallied leaners to partake of the immense opportunities.
The Minister advised students who under performed in the just released 2025 UCE Examination to re-sit as results their project works in Senior three can be carried forward.
