President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today January 24th 2026 commissioned Inspire Africa’s comprehensive coffee value addition facility which is the Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo District the first of a kind in Uganda, East and Centeral Africa designed to produce soluble and instant fine coffee for domestic use and export markets.
While speaking at the event, President Museveni noted that the joint investment project as a game changer for Uganda’s coffee fortunes to boost farm yields, fertilization, irrigation, coffee processing value chains and affirmed Uganda’s stance to end exportation of unprocessed coffee as clearly outlined in the NRM manifesto.
The commissioned Africa Coffee Park located on the shores of Lake Nyabihoko in Ntungamo District adopted intensive coffee planting style of 1038 plants per acre projected to harvest atleast 5 kilograms per plantation as benchmarked in Brazil and other coffee growing countries adding that government is fostering such initiatives to accelerate job creation opportunities, enhance commercial agriculture and wealth creation.
President Museveni advised farmers in Ntungamo District and other parts in the country, on sustainable land utilisation to maximize yields for coffee growing and cattle and guided farmers in the District on creative farming style through intensive farming approaches.
President Museveni who was last week re-elected for the 7th time, commended the people of Ntungamo District for resoundingly voting for him the just concluded presidential elections and for voting for NRM Flag bearers.
While speaking at the same function, the First Lady Maama Janet Kataha Museveni commended the proprietor of Inspire Africa and it’s subsidiary The Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo District Nelson Tugume, for the initiative which has created jobs as it has a potential projected to employ over 4000 at optimal.
Mrs Museveni noted that the massive investment into the coffee value chain has set a new trajectory for the sector and impact for growth as she explains during the commissioning of the Africa Coffee Park a subsidiary of Inspire Africa Coffee in Ntungamo District
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa who attended the function highlighted the significancy of The Africa Coffee Park at micro and macro economic extents for Uganda and commended the people of Ntungamo District for the outstanding performance in 2026 Presidential poll results where they voted for president Museveni by over 92%.
The Vision Bearer of the investment, Nelson Tugume who is also the proprietor of Inspire Africa Coffee and the Africa Coffee Park initiatives explained that the broader prospects of the initiative in as far as the transformation of the coffee sector with the adoption of the Brazilian intensive coffee plantation style, maximum yields and final coffee production, the organic fertilizer production plant among others .
Tugume narrated that there is a Coffee tourism concept they are implementing on the shores of Lake Nyabihoko which will transform the area.
Ntungamo District Woman Member of Parliament Hon Joselyn Bata Kamateneti noted that the coffee value chain plant in Ntungamo District is a PDM demonstration model that directly integrates local farmers to production and asked for more machinery for full-scale production of the facility.
