RUKIGA- The highly anticipated Musinguzi Enock Christmas Cup finals, held on Christmas Day, drew in massive crowds, with thousands of enthusiastic fans gathering to witness the thrilling conclusion.
The tournament, which included all 12 villages that make up Kibanda Parish, ended with the finals between Kakanyoro and Rushojwa, resulting in a 0-0 draw.
The teams then proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Rushojwa emerged victorious, winning 4-3 against Kakanyoro.
Speaking as the chief guest at Kakamba Playground in Kibanda Parish, Kamwezi Sub County, Rukiga District, Rukiga District Woman MP Hon. Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi praised Mr. Musinguzi Enok for organizing a tournament aimed at talent identification and promoting physical fitness among the youth.
She challenged the youth to embrace sports instead of engaging in reckless behavior like playing “matatu” and drinking alcohol. Kamusiime also urged parents to support their children who are involved in sports, emphasizing that there is a future in sports.
Kamuslime took the opportunity to donate a full set of jerseys and medals to each player from the 12 teams that participated in the tournament. Rukiga District LC5 Chairperson Mr. Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere and Kamwezi Sub County LC3 Chairperson Teddyson Niwagaba used the occasion to highlight the achievements of the Woman MP in the sub-county.
They encouraged the youth to continue supporting sports for the betterment of their future and Uganda at large.
Musinguzi Enock, the organizer of the tournament, challenged leaders to promote sports talent in the district. Among the dignitaries present was Rukiga District parliamentary hopeful Magezi Alex Kanunga.
