NEWS- The National Chairperson for the Organizing Committee of the Rwenzori Theluji Festival, Charles Mugisa Police has requested the entire media fraternity in Kasese district and Rwenzori sub-region at large to join the campaign of popularizing and publishing the event massively.

Slated for August 24, the Rwenzori Theluji Festival, an annual tourism festival that is characterized by a number of activities including Miss Tourism, Cultural and Trade Expo and Explore Kasese among others.

Speaking to our Reporter in an interview, Mr. Mugisa who says that the festival will involve series of activities, it needs intensive advertisement by all stakeholders in the media fraternity including journalists, social media bloggers, tik tokers and other media influencers to advertise the event on their platforms.

Now, Mugisa is requesting the media personalities to start writing about the most beautiful unique tourists’ attractions that one can never find elsewhere in the world accompanied a harsh tag Destination Kasese.

He described Kasese district as the richest blessed with a variety of natural resources from the waters, the national parks, minerals, and the mountains coupled with the most hospitable communities with unique diverse cultures having 3 quarters of the tribes in Uganda residing in Kasese district.

Mugisa named the most tourists attractions in Kasese district the Rwenzori Mountains, Mt. Rwenzori National Park, the Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Kazinga Channel, the Equator point, hot springs, Katwe Kabatooro area, the landing sites, Mubuku Irrigation Scheme and Mining.

He therefore appealed to all stakeholders in the district including politicians, religious and cultural leaders to jointly help the organizers of the event by popularizing it since it will benefit a larger population of Kasese district.

In a separate interview with Mr. Benson Kule Baritazale, the Board Chairperson of the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum- KTIF, the official organizers of the Rwenzori Theluji Festival said that the festival was in line with their vision to develop a world class, sustainable and attractive tourism destination.

He said that through the Rwenzori Theluji Festival, KTIF would be able to fulfill its mission of creating a profitable and inclusive Tourism investment business that would promote high quality products and services that meet global standards hence promoting Kasese to be final destination for tourism in the whole world.

Meanwhile in a similar development, the Kasese Municipal Council has decided to conduct community meetings (barazas) in the three divisions of Nyamwamba, Bulembia and Central in order to create awareness, publicity and popularizing a number of key events that will be hosted in the Municipality.

In a letter dated July 26, 2024 written by the Office of the Town Clerk- Kasese Municipality to the Senior Assistant Town Clerks of Nyamwamba, Bulembia and Central stated that the Divisions together with Security organs conduct community barazas to mobilize masses to participate in general cleaning of the town and attend the events.

According to the letter, in the recent joint security meeting between Central and Nyamwamba divisions it was observed that sanitation and hygiene in town was still wanting, street children on rise, hotels and guest houses are sub-standard and this negatively impacts on tourism.
