Team University Kampala will next year celebrate Silver Jubilee after completing 25 years giving services to the people.
This was revealed recently by the chairman board of Trustees David Tushabomwe Ndindirize during 15th graduation ceremony held at Pope Paul Memorial hotel recently.
Representing the Board of Trustees, Gloria Tumusiime highlighted the institution’s evolution from a business school established in June 2000 to a comprehensive university producing high-quality graduates.
She reaffirmed the university’s readiness to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in June 2026, with preparations underway for the unveiling of the Silver Jubilee Building – a symbol of Team University’s growth and excellence.
Team University Kampala marked a significant academic milestone as 1,517 graduates were awarded with certificates, diplomas, and conferred with degrees during the 15th Graduation Ceremony.
The ceremony was headlined by Prof. John Ddumba-Ssentamu, Chairman of Centenary Rural Development Bank Limited, who delivered an inspiring message.
He challenged graduates to redefine success, urging them to anchor it not in material pursuit but in courage, creativity, and meaningful societal contribution.
“Do not chase money – create solutions. Do not be limited by fear – step beyond boundaries,” he emphasized.
Prof. Ddumba-Ssentamu noted that Uganda’s transformation depends on graduates who initiate opportunities rather than rely solely on government jobs.
He applauded the university’s founders for their mission to combat ignorance and develop highly skilled professionals. He also recognized the courage of international students from South Sudan, Burundi, and Kenya.
“If they feared, they would not be here. Fear is the greatest boundary – conquer it,” he added.
The University Chancellor, Prof. Tarsis Bazana Kabwengyere, shared reflections from his own academic journey to demonstrate the unpredictability and transformative power of education.
“When I completed my first degree in 1968, I did not know I would one day become Chancellor. Education opens doors you cannot foresee.” he said.
He urged graduates to champion informed civic participation, especially during elections.
“Our society must rise above voting based on alcohol and inducements. You are now change agents – guide your communities toward development-focused decisions.”
He condemned global conflict and labelled ignorance as “the worst disease.”
According to official graduation statistics presented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. A.J. Bosa Lutalo, this year’s cohort included 654 female and 863 male graduates – one of the most diverse and accomplished classes in the university’s history.
Prof. Lutalo applauded the graduates for their resilience and dedication, noting that their achievements reflect Team University’s mission to produce innovative, ethical, and socially responsive professionals.
“These 1,517 graduates represent our ongoing commitment to educating leaders who will thrive beyond boundaries,” he remarked.
Mean while, His Eminence Ronald Lugega, Chairperson of the University Council, reminded graduates that lifelong learning is essential. “This is only the beginning. Let the sky be your starting point – not your limit.”
The event truly went beyond boundaries, highlighted by a keynote address delivered by Ambrose Lomin Pitia, First Deputy Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly of Juba. He emphasized the importance of unity and sustained engagement among alumni.
“We established the Alumni Association to stay connected and to ensure that the university continues to progress beyond where we left it,” said the Right Honorable Speaker, an alumnus of Team University. He also acknowledged the presence of a dedicated cohort of alumni from South Sudan, empowered over generations with industry-relevant knowledge and skills.
Ms. Nakimuli Hanifah, Chairperson of the Alumni Association of Team University, reaffirmed the alumni’s commitment to supporting the university ahead of its landmark Silver Jubilee.
She officially announced the rollout of the Alumni Agenda 2025 and Beyond, an initiative aimed at uniting graduates within Uganda and across the world.
“The Alumni Association is committed to supporting the university as it approaches its Silver Jubilee – a milestone built on a gradual but impactful history. The Alumni Agenda 2025 and Beyond will bring together graduates within and beyond Uganda to strengthen our collective contribution,” she stated.
She emphasized that alumni support will enhance mentorship, institutional visibility, and collaborative development.
The 15th Graduation Ceremony reaffirmed Team University’s mission to nurture leaders who will innovate, transform communities, and boldly go Beyond Boundaries. With 1,517 graduates stepping into the world, the university celebrated not only academic success but the beginning of a new chapter for its learners and its legacy.
