The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified female adult, whose body was found in the Ntungwa river tied with ropes and packed in a sack.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and explained that it is alleged that,on the body of the woman was yesterday 2nd August 2024 first seen by young boys who were fishing in River Ntungwa when they came across a green sack stuck in water, upon checking they saw a lifeless person therein.
The frightened boys immediately notified the area Chairperson of Kanabizo cell in Ntungwa Parish in Nyamirama Sub-county in Kanungu District, who sent his defence by names of David Kasigeire to report at Police.
Maate said that the scene of crime was visited, examined and documented and the body was retrieved from river and taken to Kanungu Health Center IV Mortuary for postmortem examination and the body was still fresh suspected to have been murdered in the morning and later dumped in River Ntungwa.
Maate has since appealed to anyone missing a dear one to visit the Health Center Mortuary so that is identified and taken for a decent burial, as inquiries in the matter continue to establish those involved and the motive for which the deceased was killed.
