ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi regional Police spokesman

NEWS- The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate has asked people to desist from Acts of lawlessness, instead work with relevant offices to arrest suspected criminals and hand them over to police for legal action following the murder of three people in Kanungu District.

Maate identified the dead as Arinaitwe Simple a businessman of Ibumbwe village in Kishuro Parish in Katete Sub county, who is alleged to have been lastly seen at Kojo’s Bar together with Godfrey Kamugisha a teacher, Innocent Tayebwa and Dickson Tayebwa, but on Wednesday morning he was discovered dead lying along Mutojo – Ibumbwe road and is believed to have had money because he was dealing in cattle and was a money lender.

Maate explained that when people learnt of Arinaitwe’s death, an angry mob went wild and arrested Godfrey Kamugisha a resident of the same address, during interrogation with them, he revealed his other associates and was lynched before the Police arrived.

Police managed to rescue Innocent Tayebwa in critical condition who was rushed to Kambuga Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival and one suspect has been arrested to help in investigations.
