President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has maintained his stance on the need to expedite East Africa Regional Federation for strategic security and market integration.

President Museveni notes that Africa stands in risky position globally with its current technological lag where other continents have advanced further in the 4 security dimensions of Air, Space, Sea and land in full dominace with Africa’s counter plan.

The President made the remarks during a media interaction with journalists from Bunyoro Sub-region at Nakasero State Lodge in Kampala where he explained that him and past regional leaders revived the East African community to form a center of gravity for regional security as a stride towards Africa unity and security and once again challenged the Gen Zs to to align to the same cause for Africa unity and liberation.

He warned elected local government leaders who abscond from their duty of safeguarding the People’s interests majorly related to land conflicts and noted that the Constituent Assembly resolved all land questions by defining land tenure and outlawing land evictions and regulation of land premium by government.

President Museveni highlighted that land conflicts are sparked by the neglect of political leaders from LC 1 to LC 5 to exert their authority as prescribed by law and warned Civil Servants against misuse of privileged information to cause land fraud and called for their arrest.

This comes after a section of leaders from Bunyoro Sub-region complained about individuals sponsoring land conflicts in mineral rich areas due to their prior knowledge on the mineral endowment in those jurisdictions and said that it’s criminal for any civil servant to know about such privilege information and use its to the disadvantage of communities and also hinted on government plans to start gazetting such mineral rich areas to avert the escalation of land conflicts in the future.

President Museveni promised to direct the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to counter Democratic Republic of Congo aggressors on Lake Albert and challenged his competitors in the presidential race to explain their counter strategy for East Africa regional internation and market and their ideological inclination on patriotism.

He explained that the target for free universal education in government schools is a capacity building for a robust national human resource and has urged all actors in the education sector to support unconditionally.

He noted that fees charges in government schools hinder the attainment of the above objective and all public school administrators should take heed to the cause for free universal education in government schools moving forward and noted that the academic empowerment for all people has both qualitative and quantitative impact on Uganda’s development.

He revealed government plans to expand the national oil exploitation programs beyond the the current 40% concentration in the Albertine graben, saying that over 60% of oil reserves in the Albertine graben are untapped and more other regions has been confirmed with oil presence that is due for exploitation.

President Museveni said that the local people who have invaded the Lakes have ruined the fishing sector and new regulations of fishing activities have to be enforced to preserve and protect the sector and the proposed regulations include the control of fishing population on water bodies, introduction of fishing holidays to allow restocking, ban of fishing in breeding areas and the restoration of indigenous fishing communities to manage the sector 

The President emphasized the NRM stance on peace, development and wealth creation among other strategic contributions to Uganda’s socioeconomic development.
