NEWS– The Police in Mbarara City are investigating a case of suicide that occurred at sky light hotel on Tuesday night, February 6th 2024, at around 7Pm where a waiter with the same hotel, jumped from the third floor of the hotel and died instantly.
SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi region Police spokesman identified the deceased as Nuwahereza Cosmas who is approximately 25 years.
According to the manager of Skylight Hotel Mbarara, Muyambi Aggrey, the deceased requested time off to go home to sort domestic matters on Monday, 5th February 2024, which was permitted on Tuesday since the deceased worked during the night shift. Nuwahereza thereafter went to Nyarugando cell, Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rubabo constituency in Rukungiri his home District and later reported back to work on the same day at around 6Pm.
Upon his return, Nuwahereza, dressed in his work uniform, proceeded to the counter and asked for a bottle of pure heaven wine that he had clients to serve. Kasasira told the press that after getting the bottle, he moved up to the third floor, jumped off, fell and died instantly.
His body according to Kasasira was conveyed to the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, CCTV camera footage showing the incident viewed and pending retrieval.
The Regional police spokesman confided to this reporter that inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
