The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday December 15th 2025, launched his first campaign trail in Buganda Sub-region with a maiden rally in Mubende district.
President Museveni started by assuring the electorate in Mubende District about the NRM’s focus on scaling up development wealth creation enablers including the completion of construction works for Mityana – Mubende whose delay he attributed to unfocused Members of Parliament who misappropriated funds meant that road project to non priority areas.
While campaigning at Kasambya Diocese Play Grounds in Mubende District, President Museveni further confirmed payment for road tarmac works of Lusalira – Nkonge – Ssembabule road among other similar developments in Mubende District.
Candidate Museveni warned opposition politicians inciting the populace for election violence as he confirmed new tighter vote protection mechanisms saying that the opposition politicians have always rigged vote with a glaring case of the 2021 polls when they rigged 2.7 million votes due to lapses in electoral processes.
He confirmed that only registered voters verified by the electoral biometric system will partake of polls among other strict regulations as set out by the electoral commission to curb the opposition’s usual rigging mechanisms.
President Museveni promised to establish a Public University in Greater Mubende area to scale up access to higher education and the move is part of the NRM government strategy to establish a public University in each of the 19 original Sub Regions of Uganda to which Greater Mubende belongs
So far the government has established Public Universities in eleven Sub-regions out of 19 and the new arrangement to scale up the initiative will capture among other areas Greater Mubende area.
The National Resistance Movement Party Presidential Candidate said that the government is committed to upgrade several Health Centers in Mubende District and elaborated on the further distribution of electricity to the few pending areas of the District in his next term of office
President Museveni however warned that it will be suicidal for anyone intending to disrupt Uganda’s hard attained peace and warned against sectarian politics as he upheld the NRM Politics of unity that restored peace and the thriving development in Uganda.
He reported that the NRM government’s coffee farming initiative has elevated Uganda to a top coffee growing nation in Africa and rallied the electorate in Mubende District and Buganda at large to intensify coffee growing for aggregate macro economic growth
President Museveni noted that the NRM government’s wealth creation strategies are strategically crafted for socioeconomic transformation targets as implemented in different areas across the country and challenged the electorate in Mubende District to avoid opportunists who cling themselves on government programs with the intention of misleading the populace.
He further guides on how commercial agriculture will directly enhance jobs creation as already demonstrate by several successful farmers across the country and noted that NRM mass line for wealth creation will meet its targets if all people actively enroll from subsistancehood living.
President Museveni called on the people of Mubende District to observe the three aspects of wealth creation that include selection of profitable economic enterprises, efficient land utilisation and professional practices and guided on the proper implementation of wealth creation initiatives to the people of Mubende District.
While speaking at the same event, the NRM First National Vice Chairperson Alhaji Moses Kigongo cautioned the NRM fraternity to maintain discipline and avoid provocative behaviors during the election period for a clean clear win while the NRM second National Vice Chairperson Rt Hon Anita Among has outlined various development initiatives earmarked for Mubende District in the National development plan and areas for reinforced to foster development and socioeconomic transformation of the people.
The NRM Vice Chairperson for Buganda Region Hon Haruna Kasoro unveiled campaign strategies for by regional leaders including Parliamentarians rooted in structures across board and reminded the electorate in Mubende District of their historical attachment to the NRM revolution a reason for them to safe guard the gains made in their area for more.
