President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has revealed that he is committed to initiate global discourse on justice and global affluence as means to stop the endless conflicts and unfairness in different parts of the world.

President Yoweri Museveni cited the ongoing conflicts in the middle East that he attributes to chauvinistic tendencies of actors involved fostering divisive short-sighted political approaches based on identity as opposed to ideology and interests.

As the current Chairperson of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM), President Museveni said the world should aspire for justice, peace and global affluence founded on politics of interest to end conflicts and foster social economic transformation for all people(s) as demonstrated by the NRM government leadership in Uganda since inception 

The President was speaking during the State Iftar Dinner he has hosted at State House Entebbe under the theme ” Peace Unity and Reconciliation: Our Divine Mandate for Nation Building”.

President Museveni encouraged the Muslim fraternity in Uganda to foster unity and advace wealth creation for social economic transformation and National development and has commended them for resoundingly voting for the NRM government in the recent elections.

The President called for peaceful settlement of the the crisis in the middle East Involving Iran, Israel and America and insisted on a two state solution for Israel and Palestinian and explained his prior engagements with leaders in Iran, Israel and USA on the viable path for peace in the middle East as he discouraged the use of force.

While speaking at the same event, the Vice President Major Jesca Alupo Epel rallied the Muslim community Uganda to live up to this year’s Iftar theme of fostering peace, unity and reconciliation for nation building during and post the Ramathan period 

Vice President Alupo noted that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s initiation and maintenance of peace in Uganda is what has delivered the country to the landmark development strides the country of experiencing and thereby called on the Muslim community in the country to advance the same ideology of peace and unity for development 

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among confirmed that Parliament has received the Khadi Courts bill ahead of its processing and commended the Muslim community for supporting the NRM government and re-electing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 polls and thanked President Museveni for staying as Uganda’s pillar of peace, unity and fostering socialeconomic and development 

On his part, the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubajje asked the government to expedite the enactment of Khadi Courts by passing the Khadi bill by Parliament and noted that the bill will ease arbitration of family and Islamic matter in the Muslim community.

Mufti Mubajje reveals the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council has completed registration of all Imams in mosques accross the country in a bid to streamline leadership the Muslim community from the grassroots and commended President Museveni for his all inclusive leadership that has seen the appointment of Muslims in core government institutions and asked for more slots.

The Mufti rallied Muslims accross Uganda to reflect on the values of Islam during this Ramadan period and also confirmed strategic interventions by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council to organize Muslim women into Saccos for welath creation targeting to reach 6 million women accross the country.

Mufti Mubajje asked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to pardon more prisoners who he says were misled by politicians during the 2026 political season and called for Peaceful interventions into the conflict in the Gulf/middle East to stop the bloodshed. 

Mufti Mubajje reported the to President Museveni individuals abusing the Umah Pilgrimage program and called for the President’s intervention.

Muslim Cleric Sheikh Dr Ashraf Mutagubya a lecturer of Islamic Financing at the Islamic University in Uganda who was the guest preacher urged the Muslim community in the country to forster unity, peace and reconciliation for development as they harness government programs to transform their households.

Sheikh Mutagubya noted that peace is a core pillar for nation building and has rallied the Muslims fraternity to embrace government’s wealth creation initiatives to elevate their household incomes as they preserve and protect the prevailing peace in the country.

He highlighted the expected impact of several key financial policy interventions initiated by government with guidance from President Museveni that include Islamic Banking, Insurance and capital markets Islamic regulations and commended government for the enacting friendly legislations that are inclusive of all religions including Muslims.
