Opposition leader Kizza Besigye, his aide Obeid Lutale, and Denish Oola Oyaa have been further remanded to Luzira Prison.
Earlier in the day, Besigye threatened to boycott his treason trial and remain in prison, leaving the court to proceed with the case as it wishes.
The development follows a decision by trial judge Emmanuel Baguma to proceed with hearing a prosecution application seeking to protect the identities of six witnesses.
However, Besigye and his legal team say they have not been served with the application and therefore cannot adequately respond to it.
The defence lawyers also accuse the prosecution of failing to honour its commitment to fully disclose its intended evidence by March 3rd.
Instead, they say the prosecution only began providing documents, including witness statements and flash disks, yesterday evening.
The lawyers argue that the defence has been treated unfairly, claiming the judge has repeatedly granted leniency to the prosecution by fixing its applications while ignoring those filed by the defence, including applications for recusal and bail.
Besigye maintains that unless the court ensures fairness in the proceedings, he may choose not to participate in the trial.
Justice Baguma has now ordered that the application be served on the three accused persons and their lawyers today to allow them to file a formal response by 26th March.
The matter will return to court for mention on 31st March.
In the pending application, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Uganda seeks to conceal the names, workplaces, and residences of six witnesses for security reasons.
The prosecution argues that the witnesses are crucial to the case.
Besigye, Lutale, and Oola are charged with treason. The prosecution alleges that the trio plotted to overthrow the Government of Uganda by holding meetings and discussing logistical support for the plan.
The three have been on remand since November 2024.
