Bushenyi District Ebola Taskforce fumigating the Ambulance after evacuating an Ebola Suspect to Mbarara

Bushenyi District has registered a suspected case of Ebola and the authorities have isolated the suspect at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Isolation Unit.

According to Bushenyi District Health Officer (DHO) Dr Stephen Twinomugisha, the suspect is a 22 year old male who returned from Kashenshero in Mitooma District who developed symptoms like general body  weakness, headache, fever and bleeding from the nose and eyes.

Dr Twinomugisha, informed the District Taskforce headed by the Resident District Commissioner who immediately mobilised a well planned successful evacuation and delivered the victim to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he is admitted in the isolation unit and his blood samples has been taken for testing and reported to the Ministry of Health through the Ebola Alert System as requited.

“Our team evacuated and successfully delivered to Mbarara RRH the Ebola suspect and he is already admitted” Dr Bainomugisha reported.

Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Emmy Ngabirano has admitted that an Ebola case was being   handled and called for calm and strict observance of the Ebola outbreak Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).
