NEWS- The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 35 year old Niwagaba Simon, a resident of Katungu cell, Eastern ward, Kambuga sub County in Kanungu district.
ASP EllyMaate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman told the press that it’s alleged that on Monday at Katungu cell, the deceased allegedly stole cassava, a hen, a mattress and matooke from various individuals whose names are not yet established.
This according to Police angered the residents prompting them to arrest him and subsequently setting him ablaze.
Maate stresses that Police were notified and rushed to the scene but couldn’t do much in saving him.
The scene was visited, processed and documented by the staff at Kambuga police station who then took body to Kambuga hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate added that inquiries have already commenced to identify the killers so that they are brought to book.
