President Museveni hosts cultural leaders

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today November 4th 2026, hosted cultural leaders from across Uganda at State House, Entebbe, for the Cultural Leaders Conference.

The gathering brings together traditional leaders to engage on issues concerning culture, heritage and national development.

The high-level meeting is centered around advancing national unity, promoting socio-economic transformation, and aligning cultural institutions with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government’s long-term vision.

Key focus areas of the Conference include promoting unity and togetherness, and President Museveni has explicitly urged the gathered cultural leaders and traditional institutions to use their platforms to foster cohesion and harmony among Ugandans.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) government is engaging leaders on structural wealth creation to promote socio-economic transformation with focus on lifting citizens out of poverty by encouraging participation in sustainable production and services.

While emphasizing development, the conference reinforces the government’s stance that the restoration of traditional institutions is vital for preserving Uganda’s rich cultural identity for future generations.
