Pokopoko Bus and Taxi accident that claimed 10 lives

NEWS- The Police in Kyenjojo District have confirmed a deadly accident that took place at Kaihura along Fort portal- Kampala Road leaving at least 10 people dead.

The Rwenzori West Region Police Spokesman Vicent Twesige revealed that the fatal road accident involved Bus registration number UBE 807T Isuzu belonging to Pokopoko Bus Company which was coming from Kampala that collided with motorvehile registration number UBR 812G Toyota Hiace Taxi which was coming from FortPortal headed towards Kampala.

Twesige said that the early morning accident claimed the life of at least 10 passengers in the Taxi including its driver and among the dead were  8 male and 2 female and it is reported that the taxi driver left his side and collided head on with the oncoming bus which had maintained its side.

The scene of the accident has been visited by the Regional and District Traffic Officers and team and all bodies were removed and taken to Kyenjojo Hospital for postmortem examination and the two vehicles were towed to Kyenjojo Central Police Station while the driver of the bus on the run.

Twesige blamed the accident on reckless driving by the Taxi driver and the accident was registered at Kyenjojo Central Police Station under reference number TAR 117/2024 to help in investigations.
