When we speak of prophecy, the mind often turns to pastors, self-proclaimed prophets, or even village sorcerers. But prophecy, some argue, doesn’t always wear a clerical collar. Sometimes, it marches in military boots. Lieutenant (retired) Magufuri Moses Mugisha — disciplined, intuitive, with Masters in Procurement and logistics management, and Masters in Science in Monitoring and Evaluation, with zero tolerance to corruption, gifted with foresight, a highly regarded officer in the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) — is such a man.
His predictions, whispered among circles of political influence and now surfacing in the public domain locally and internationally concern nothing less than Uganda’s next presidency — and the central figure isn’t who you might think.
The center of Magufuri’s prophecy is Pastor Patience Rwabwogo— the soft-spoken, prayerful daughter of His Excellency the President of Uganda, and the spiritual leader of Covenant Nations Church in Luzira.
The Day a Soldier Gave Up His SUV key for a Sermon
According to those close to the story, Magufuri was deeply moved by a vision he received from the Holy Spirit earlier this year. Burdened by its weight, he sought out a platform to declare it — and chose Pastor Robert Kayanja’s pulpit at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Kampala.
But he didn’t come empty-handed.
He handed over his Land Rover keys — a bold gesture of faith and reverence — similar act with Moses and his stick while approaching Pharaoh and also striking and splitting the Red Sea.
Pastor Kayanja, visibly moved, invited him to speak. What Magufuri revealed sent ripples through both church pews and political circles.
Magufuri emphasized that Pastor Patience Rwabwogo is a divine key to Uganda’s peaceful transition, and that her counsel to the President in this sensitive matter is critical to maintaining peace, unity, and divine direction. He warned Pastor Kayanja three times that, ignoring her role could invite turbulence and potentially ruin the achievements of nearly 40 years by the NRM. It’s important to remember that recently, Pastor Patience initiated Light Up Uganda, and convened a prayer that brought together all the pastors and spiritual leaders across the country, with Bishop LaDonna as the Chief Guest, at Kololo. With His excellency the president and the first Lady, they all signed the Light Up Uganda for Jesus declaration, a document reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to Christian values and spiritual renewal.
But he didn’t stop there.
Names of Destiny:
Magufuri revealed other names, too — individuals he claimed the Holy Spirit highlighted as essential in the national transition. They include:
Prof. Andrew Lule, son of former President Yusuf Lule
Jimmy Akena, son of President Milton Obote
Miria Obote, former First Lady
Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, veteran statesman and diplomat
And Pastor Robert Kayanja himself.
He mentioned these people should always meet, dialogue and pray that God gives Pastor Patience the wisdom to advise His Excellency the president on peaceful transition of power.
It’s important to note that recently, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba mentioned meeting all the first sons of former Ugandan presidents, this shows a relation to Magufuri’s prophecy.
Though some initially dismissed this as an isolated spiritual episode, events that followed have begun to echo Magufuri’s vision — particularly one that played out on an international stage.
Benny Hinn’s Visit: Confirmation or Coincidence?
In a packed service at Miracle Centre Cathedral, globally renowned evangelist Pastor Benny Hinn visited Uganda — drawing thousands, including top government officials and His Excellency President himself. During the event, Pastor Patience was publicly acknowledged by Pastor Benny Hinn as playing a significant role in the nation’s future. It’s important to note that Pastor Patience has been groomed spiritually way back by her mother Janet Museveni Kataha, the first lady.
To many in the crowd, it sounded like confirmation — a second prophetic stamp echoing what Magufuri had mentioned.
To others, especially younger Ugandans who support Gen. Muhoozi, who’s also the Chief of Defence Forces and first son, it sparked confusion. Could a pastor — even one so closely tied to the First Family — really be a key figure?
Prophecy vs. Politics: Who Will Uganda Choose?
Uganda stands at a prophetic and political crossroads. The current leadership has delivered both economic transformation and accusations of authoritarianism. Some believe continuity lies in Gen Muhoozi’s military discipline and youth engagement, others place hope in Bobi Wine’s populist activism. But a growing number are now wondering: could the answer be neither?
Magufuri Mugisha — a retired soldier, who is neither a follower of Pastor Kayanja nor Pastor Patience, last met her 20 years ago, he’s not a televangelist, but has made his stand, his sharp wit and outspokenness has on several occasions made him misunderstood or resented. His prophecy is no longer a private burden; it’s now public record, seconded by international voices, and increasingly hard to ignore.
Will Uganda follow the script, or will divine disruption rewrite the story? Only time — and perhaps more prophecy — will tell.
