The Police in Rukungiri District have arrested three suspects in connection with alleged assaulting of 24 year old Kakuru Gideon also known as Hakizimana Kaboy 24 years old, that led to his death.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident which took place today Sunday 27th July 2025 at Kanyankyende Village in Nyabitete Parish in Bugangari Sub County in Rukungiri District and identified the suspects as Ms Nsimire Justin, Ndyamuhaki Posiano and Murokozi John.
It’s alleged that yesterday evening Ndyamuhaki and Murokozi were in the bar of their sister Nsimire Justine located at Kanyankyende Trading Centre with other people including Kakuru Gideon who is now deceased who was a lover of Nsimire and wanted to make love with her at the bar.
However, the brothers Ndyamuhaki and Murokozi objected and it caused a disagreement to the extent that the two brothers attacked and assaulted Kakuru leaving him unconscious along the way.
Maate explained that the area Chairperson Habaasa Wilber was alerted and when he responded to the scene he rushed the victim to the hospital but unfortunately, he died on the way and he reported the matter to Police.
Maate said that the case was reported at Bugangari Police Station and detectives visited the scene of crime, processed, documented and the suspects were arrested to aid police with investigation.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
