The Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the alleged malicious damage to property incident that occurred yesterday at Nyamatembe Cell in Kacerere Town Council.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate said that information was received from OC Station Bufundi to the effect that there was a group of people from Rubanda Town who had gone to attack the home of one late Nyongozi on allegations that their so identified as Denis stole a motorcycle from Kabale town and that they suspected him to be hiding in the said home.
Upon reaching the area, the suspect and exhibit could not be found and in the process the Boda Boda riders destroyed the fence of the said home which prompted the locals to mobilise themselves and confront the attackers.
Consequently, the locals managed to overpower the boadaboda men who abandoned their motorcycles at the scene and the locals went ahead and damaged some motorcycles and threw them in the river.
Maate explained that a team of Police officers led by OC Station Rubanda Ahimbisibwe John responded to the scene, which was processed and documented the scene where 23 motorcycles were retrieved and are parked at Rubanda Central Police Station and 9 suspects among the boadaboda men were arrested while three boadaboda men who were beaten by the community are admitted at Muko Health Center 1V.
