The thief and his machete

The Police at Kiwatule Police station under Kira Road Police Division are investigating a case of an attempted robbery in which one suspect was put out of action.

Police records indicate that the incident happened on Friday, August 22nd 2025 at around 1:03Am and registered at Kiwatule Police station under reference number SD REF 02/22/08/2025.

On the aforementioned day at around 0100/C, ASP Benon Walubo, the Officer In Charge of Kiwatule Police station received a call from one Musisi Davis informing him of two men armed with pangas who attempted to rob him in central zone near Eco mart supermarket.

The OC responded to the call with the team vide SD REF 02/22/08/2025 on a motorcycle registration. The two armed robbers had moved from down Ecomart and hid in one of the gardens behind St. Mbaga Catholic Church in Kiwatule.

Walubo adds that together with the team, they were able to trace them before two others took off into different directions. 

The Officer adds that they pursued one of them, who attempted to resist arrest and he pulled out the panga, which was on his body threatening to cut the officers.

During the confrontation, the said suspect was fatally wounded. Police told this reporter that the suspect was wearing a hood, a blue jacket, and covering the face with a black mask.

“Most of the people at the scene recognized him as a known robber and a master planner in most of the robberies in Kiwatule and Kigowa” said Walubo.

He added: “the suspect was identified to be residing in Kigowa and Wabiduku, and only operates boda boda business during the night with the attention of robbing the clients”.

The scene was late visited by D/SP Arinda Evelyn, DCIO Kira Road Police division and the homicide team, scene was documented by the Soco, D/AIP Kisembo Sadraq.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to KCCA city mortuary pending postmortem examination.
