KAMPALA- Unknown assailants have waylaid a 68-year old businessman in Makindye Ssabagabo and killed him, before robbing his belongings, meters from his home.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, has identified the deceased as Ssalongo Musoke Fred, a 68-year-old resident of Ndejje Kibutika Mirimu cell, Makindye Sabagabo, who was killed in wee hours.
The victim’s body was found behind a chapati kiosk, meters off the main road by the area residents in the morning. Police preliminary findings have indicated that Musoke, a fish monger, was waylaid 100 meters from his home, hit with a blunt object, and robbed of his belongings.
“Police responded promptly, recording witness statements and documenting the scene. The body was taken to City Mortuary for post-mortem examination. We believe the motive of this murder is robbery but the investigations are still ongoing.” Onyango said.
Onyango explained that police have enhanced patrols in the area to deter criminal activity and urge the business community to exercise caution when moving early in the morning.
