The Church of Uganda will today commemorate 52 years of socio-economic transformation through its Directorate of Household and Community Transformation.
The thanksgiving Service will be held at Lweza Training and Conference Centre starting at 9am, during which, there will be the official launch of the Ziimba Lweza Project, an initiative aimed at transforming the facility into a world-class hospitality and training centre.
According to the Church of Uganda Communications Officer, Sadiiki Adams, the main celebrant is Archbishop of Church of Uganda the Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, will be the Chief Guest.

The Directorate of Household and Community Transformation (CoU-HCT) is one of the six directorates of the Church of Uganda and serves as its socio-economic development arm.
Established in 1974 as Planning, Development and Rehabilitation (PDR), the Directorate has over the years played a significant role in improving the livelihoods of households and communities across Uganda through a range of programmes including capacity building, agriculture and sustainable livelihoods, climate justice, disaster risk resilience, humanitarian response, gender and social justice, as well as youth skilling.
*About the Zimba Lweza Project*
Lweza Training and Conference Centre (LTCC), one of the flagship projects under HCT, has been under the ownership of the Province of the Church of Uganda since 1981, following its transition from the African Inland Mission.
The Centre provides facilities for retreats, trainings, workshops, seminars, conferences, accommodation, restaurant services, and camping for both the Church and the general public.
It is situated on 14 acres along the Kampala–Entebbe Road, approximately 11 kilometres from Kampala City and about 600 metres off Lweza-Kigo Road, overlooking Lake Victoria.
The Ziimba Lweza Project is an initiative by Church of Uganda to redevelop Lweza Training and Conference Centre into a modern, world-class training and hospitality centre.
