KAMPALA- Government is encouraging Ugandans to embrace value addition and network with European companies to boost exports and earn big from the European market.

Finance minister Matia Kasaija made the remarks while at the opening ceremony of the Uganda and European Union business forum hosted by the European Union, Government of Uganda and partners.

The Business forum held in Kampala presented cutting-edge innovations and investment opportunities in high-growth sectors which included Agriculture, mining and a number of business solutions.

During the 3rd Uganda-EU business forum, Uganda benefited from key recommendations on investing in agribusiness value chains, promotion of sustainable mining and value addition, promotion of financial opportunities for private sector, enabling infrastructure and sustainable tourism.

These are important for the country’s growth and development, and partially informed our Budget Strategy for FY2024/25 and FY2025/26.

According to finance minister Matia Kasaija Since the launch of 1st Uganda – EU business forum in 2020, Uganda’s exports to EU have grown significantly from USD 502.50M in FY2019/20 to USD1,050.90M in FY2023/24 thus creating a positive trade balance with our country.

Kasaija says Ugandans should look out for European markets as the EU continues to be one of Uganda’s major development partners.
