NEWS– The New Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Thursday officially took over the office and has vowed to improve welfare of soldiers by fighting the evil of corruption and mismanagement of resources.
The ceremony which took place at the UPDF fourth division headquarters in Gulu was presided over by the Special Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security and also Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation Gen Caleb Akandwanabo commonly known as Salim Saleh who congratulated Gen Mbadi and Gen Muhoozi upon their tour of duty and implored them to continue preserving their health.
Gen Akandwanaho Saleh also urged the two officers to cautiously uphold the first pillar of “Musevenomics”, that’s security of life and property for social economic transformation.
Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has taken over as the 13th Chief of Defense Forces and promised that the UPDF under his charge would continue being professional, moral and tackle comprehensive national security and applauded President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for his wise stewardship that has grown UPDF to what it is today.
Muhoozi observed that the UPDF continues to be the principal pillar of the Ugandan state that all Ugandans respect and is the central institution of Uganda’s nationhood because entry into the Army is open to all Ugandans and added that Ugandans can disagree on anything but respect and support UPDF works.
He lauded the outgoing Chief of Defence Forces Gen Mbadi for a job well done in building a modern professional force and implored soldiers to avoid the spirit of arrivism, thinking that they have achieved all.
While speaking at the ceremony, the former Chief of Defence Forces and now Minister of State for Trade and Industry Gen Mbadi Mbazu congratulated Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba upon his new appointment and commended President Museveni for giving him the great opportunity to serve at the helm of the country’s military.
