The Secretary to the Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira, Rev Fr Placid Mugumya has hailed the children of the late Maria Dina Bwankwindi of Kitanda village in Nyakeina Parish in Buyanja Sub-county in Rukungiri District for taking care of their mother during her later years on earth which enabled her to live longer.
Fr Mugumya made the remarks while delivering a sermon at the burial of the late Maria Dina Bwankwindi who died at the age of 85 after suffering a stroke that kept her paralysed for several years.
Fr Mugumya noted that children abandoned their elderly parents to suffer during their old age, however for the children of Maria Dina, they have played their responsibility regardless of the conditions of the financial needed to take care of their mother.
The burial ceremony was attended by over 10 priests, the outgoing Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Erisa Rutahigwa, the incoming MP Elect Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde, Rukungiri LC 5 Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama, Senior Presidential Advisor Francis Batinti, and former Minister of State for Health Dr Alex Kamugisha, Management and Staff from Uganda Management Institute Kampala among many others.
While speaking on behalf of the children, Dr Adrian Baine described their mother as a devoted christian, hard working and resilient person who ensured that they got modest education.
Dr Baine who is a Lecturer at Uganda Management Institute (UMI) told the mourners their late Father John Bwankwindi and their mother raised them in a disciplined manner that enabled them to become useful citizens .
Lt Gen Tumukunde who spoke on behalf of the family friends, hailed the family for being there for him during his political maneuvers especially Dr Adrian Baine who was once his Political Assistant when he was the Member of the Constituent Assembly representing Rubabo County in Rukungiri District.
Born in 1940, the late Maria Dina Bwankwindi is survived by 6 children, 27 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
