NEWS- It was all joy and happiness as Rukungiri Municipality hailstorm hit families received relief food items from the Municipality MP hopeful Maj. Gen. Henry Tumukunde.
More than 650 victim families from Nyakihanga, Kahororo , Furuna villages in Karangaro ward, Western Division and Ruhega in Kyatoko Ward, Eastern Division Rukungiri Municipality received relief items worth 3.25 tones of maize flour with each household getting 5Kgs.
While distributing the relief on behalf of Gen. Tumukunde, George Tumwesigye Owakukiroru the Gen. Tumukunde team over all coordinator who highlighted that the initiative targeted areas that were left out during the first round hailed Gen. Tumukunde for the solidarity he has showed towards the people of Rukungiri Municipality.
Owakukiroru noted that the distributed relief aimed at helping people cope up with food shortages and rallied people to overwhelmingly support Gen.Tumukunde in the upcoming elections if they need development in their areas stressing that he is more than ready to address their issues.
Beneficiaries Lestatuta Kemari, Mary Rwigaruraho and leaders Muganzi Justus Kalori the Western Division NRM vice chairperson, Twinomugisha sylivia Katimbira the Western Division chairperson expressed gratitude to Gen. Tumukunde for the support during this trying moment and promised to support him stressing that the hand that gives is the one that receives.
The hailstorm that ravaged Rukungiri Municipality in February 2025 caused a significant damage to property and most especially crops and this left many families in need as far as food is concerned.
It should be remembered that this is not the first time Gen. Tumukunde has donated relief items to hailstorm hit families in Rukungiri Municipality as he had earlier in March 2025 delivered support to victims in Kibale, Mutara and Kafunda cells all in Karangaro ward Western Division Rukungiri Municipality.
