Hon John Kamara Nzeyimana is being sought by Police

The tetitorial police in Kisoro are investigating circumstances under which suspects who were arrested for the allegedly cases of arson and malicious damage, were aided to escape from the Police by Bufumbira County North Hon Jonh Kamara Nzeyimana.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate identified the suspects that were aided to escape as Gasigwa Jeremiah, Harerimana Augustine, Nkurunziza Apollo, Bavuzayubusa Paskazia, Mujawimana Dinavance and Basekuye Teleza while Hon Kamara Nzeyimana is being sought for aiding the suspects to escape.

Maate explained that it is alleged that, on the 3rd May 2025 the above suspects committed the offence of arson and malicious damage to property of Ms Mahoro Jackline after a village disagreement.

Ms Mahoro thereafter went and opened the case at Kisoro Central Police Station which has been under  investigations and the suspects were summoned to Police for interviews and statement recording, but they instead went to Hon Kamara who is alleged to have advised them not to report on the police summons, thus they ignored.

Maate sais that the complainant kept following up her case until today July 28th when the suspects were arrested and taken to Kisoro Central Police Station for interviewing and a few minutes later, Hon Kamara went to Police and requested the suspects to be granted a Police Bond.

He was advised by the District CID officer Detective Babiiha Johnson that the suspects first make statements while he was consulting with the district management since the matter was of public concern.

Hon Kamara is reported to have left the station very annoyed while cursing and the suspects were handed over to the investigating officer for their statements to be obtained and while the investigating officer was interacting with the suspects, Hon Kamara went back and instructed the suspects to run away and entered his vehicle and immediately drove away with them.

The investigating officer tried to intervene but he was pushed away and he immediately reported the matter to the OC Station Tuhairwe Alex and later the District CID officer who made an operation to re-arrest the suspect from the home of Hon Kamara but whose arrest was not possible since he had mobilized the community against the Police officers.

Maate condemned Hon Kamara actions who is a Member of Parliament but is acting contrary to the very laws he made, forgetting that nobody is above the law and efforts to have him arrested are underway.
