NEWS- Hon. Ojaman Simon peter-An adviser to His highness Paul Sande Emolot-Etomaileng, (the Iteso cultural leader) has today Thursday 31st of October 2024 appointed to head the mobilisation for the creation of a new administrative unit (New District-Usuk).
The meeting was held in Okuda village-Abarata in Ongongoja Sub County and chaired by Mr. Odeke Opoonent, a closed relative to the vice president, Jessca Alupo.
Ojaman’s appointment was approved by about 80 Usuk Elders who say, time has come for Usuk District! Bye bye Ngariam and Toroma Counties.
“We are ready to talk in radios and public gatherings about the creation of Usuk District, because we were supposed to get a district but was given to Katakwi, now this is the right time for us” said one member in a meeting.
Usuk is a Consituency comprised of 5 sub counties with the total number of about 17,000 voters as per Election of 2021 information.
The sub counties are Ongongoja, Okulonyo, Usuk, Guyaguya and Usuk Town council only!
Among the elders present was the district councilor for Ongongoja and also vice chairman of katakwi District Hon. Ecuman Joseph,
Vice lc3 Okulonyo Ronald Ongorok, Sub-county councillors for Ongongoja sub- county, all LC2’s and LC1s among other opinion leaders.
Among the issues discussed was to engage local leaders from Ngariam and Toroma Counties to support the creation of Usuk District. The meeting that started at 10:00am lasted for about 5 hours.
The vice chairman Joseph Ecuman who who closed the meeting, told the members that, he will update his boss, Geoffrey Omolo the LC5 about the new development. This website will keep you updated of the latest developments!
