KABALE- The Police in Kabale District have in detention four students of Kabale University in South Western Uganda, to help the in investigating the suspected the death of a 22-year-old man on suspicion of theft.
Information obtained by this publication has it that the deceased is Martin Muhereza, a resident of Nyarugorogoro village, Kitanga parish, Kashambya sub-county in Rukiga district.
A tip off got by this reporter from officers who preferred anonymity at Kabale Central Police Station, the suspects in detention whose details remain undisclosed for investigation purposes, were arrested on Wednesday, November 15th 2023.
Earlier, the Kigezi Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate had told the press that once the suspects are arrested, they will face murder charges in court.
“On the 15/11/2023, around 08:30 Am, D/CID/O Kabale, D/SP Mukama Hakim received information about an unidentified deceased adult male found at Kirigime central cell, Kirigime ward, southern division, Kabale municipality,” confirmed Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, on Wednesday.
Maate reported that a murder case was registered, and the crime scene was examined by the Homicide team Kabale, led by D/CID/O, D/SP Mukama Hakim.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased had allegedly fallen victim to a mob, with recovered exhibits including flat shoes and stones with suspected bloodstains.
The body was subsequently retrieved and transported to the mortuary for postmortem. The victim was later identified as Muhereza Martin by his relatives.
The murder case was officially documented at Kabale Central Police Station under reference CRB 882/2023.
