Kanungu Town Council has proposes Ugx 295.6 million budget for the financial year 2026/2027 at a fully attended council meeting that was held today April 7th at the Town Council hall and tne session was provided over by the Speaker Diana Bitamba.
The Council meeting was attended by Mbabazi Emmanuel from the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, the Town council Mayor, Karabenda Godfrey, Town Council Cerk, Akankwasa Moses, councilors and other stakeholders.
In his remarks,the Town council mayor Karabenda Godfrey, noted that the budget draft has been given to councilors for review and is inspected to be approved in the next council meeting and urged councilors to navigate through the budget and reach out to concerned authorities incase of any recommendations to avoid delays during approval.
The workers and technical services department took the lion’s share with shs Ugx 115.5 million equivalent to 39%, followed by the administration department with Ugx 68.6 million equivalent to 23%.
Other allocations included, the Finance department with Ugx 17.7 millions, health and environment department with Ugx 36.5 millions, Internal Audit with Ugx 11.1 millions, Urban Planning with Ugx 20.1 millions, Production and Marketing with Ugx 4.6 millions, Gender and Community Development with Ugx 5.4 millions, Planning with Ugx 3.1 millions, education services with Ugx 3 millions and finally Natural Resources with Ugx 0.9 millions.
The Councilors together with other officials started with inspecting the new council building that is under construction using Ugx 200 millions, grant from the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development and best performing councilors were awarded certificates as a token of appreciation.
