An insider at Kasese District service commission tipped our reporter that currently a person who is seeking for a primary teacher position pay’s between 6m-7m and a healthy worker 10m-12m.
Residents and some of the affected persons who paid their money but were not awarded with jobs who preferred anonymity suggests that the commission be investigated by government together with the top district political heads who are accused of allegedly being in the fore front of the act.
In 2024 , Over shillings 57 millions was rescued from conmen who had obtained money from job applicants in disguise of helping them get jobs awarded to them by Kasese District Service Commission.
The said amount of money was rescued by Kasese Youth Link for Development, A Community Based Organization that promotes Human Rights.
Mr. Ronald Kato, the organization’s Executive Director, says he picked interest to advocate for the victims after being told that very many people had allegedly been conned of their money by people masquerading to be agents of the members of the District Service Commission.
Mr. Kato told our reporter in an interview at his office in Kasese town that most of the people who have lost their money to the conmen are teachers and health workers with the biggest percentage being women.
According to him, after getting tips from the affected persons, they would investigate them and then summon the accused persons to refund the money.
To his dismay, some of the conmen are government employees with in the district. He, however, declined to mention their names in order not to jeopardize the investigations.
