NTUNGAMO– The Bishop of South Ankole Diocese the Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe has called upon lay leaders to uphold their calling as they serve the God’s flock.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe said this on Friday while commissioning 21 lay leaders who have completed 2 years of training at Kitunga Divinity College in Kitunga Archdeaconry, South Ankole Diocese.
The Bishop congratulated them for consistently completing the training amidst some challenges but managed to go and preach the gospel of Christ.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe who was assisted by Dean St Mathews’ cathedral Kyatamate the Very Rev Canon Cranmer Mwesigwa hailed the principal Rev Bernard Mugabiirwe and Archdeacon Kitunga Ven Rev Canon Yoram Ntoreine for the work done and granted the request to have main building roofed which will cost UGX9,350,000M.
The chief Retreater for 4 days Rev Canon Semu Muhumuza and his wife Nalongo encouraged the lay readers to seek the Kingdom of God first and His righteousness and all others will be added to them.
Rev canon Muhumuza said that God chose them to serve Him wholeheartedly and God will do their work too.
The principal Kitunga Divinity College Rev Bernard Mugabiirwe hailed Bishop Ahimbisibwe for commissioning the 21 lay readers to go and do the work of the Lord.
Rev Mugabiirwe also thanked the administration, staff and students for cooperation that enabled the College to grow and develop drastically.
The commissioned lay readers expressed their joy for completing the training promising to practice what they have been taught.
In other news, Parents have been urged to teach their children local languages and family chores during holiday.
This was said by the team leader of Bible Society Kisoro Phionah Bahungirehe at the closure of a 3 day conference of Kisoro Central Pentecostal Assemblies of God in Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality.
The conference started on 23rd November 2023 and ended on 25th under a theme “they put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him Mark 15:17”
Bahungirehe urged parents to use the gift of the children by teaching them their local launguage especially using the newly testament translated Bible in Rufumbira.
She Further asked Christians to always use Bibles to confirm the verses to avoid being decieved as new churches are coming up with their teachings different from those of the existing churches.
However Bishop Charles Bazimaziki of Kisoro central Pentecostal Assemblies of God implored parents to allocate time for their children while in holiday to read their books, allowing them to go in worshipping places and also children to help their parent in domestic activities.
Bishop Sam Kato from Toro pentecostal Assemblies of God postorate insisted that Christians should avoid hetrade and divisionisms amongst and to have a spirit of reading the Bible everyday.
