Residents of Mabaale Town Council in Kagadi District today turned up in large numbers for a community clean-up exercise aimed at improving sanitation and maintaining a healthy environment.
The exercise, which kicked off at 9:00 AM at Mabaale Town Council headquarters, brought together landlords, business owners, tenants, learners especially from Mabaale Government-Aided Secondary School and local leaders at various levels.
The Community Development (CD) initiative, dubbed “Keep Mabaale Clean,” was spearheaded by the Principal Town Clerk, Robert Semante.

He commended residents for wholeheartedly participating in the exercise, which left the town visibly cleaner amid cheers and excitement.
Semante urged residents to always collect and dispose off rubbish at designated collection points.
He noted that the Town Council collects garbage every Friday from these points before transporting it to the designated dumping site.
Semate revealed that the Town Council is planning to procure a permanent garbage collection vehicle to ensure daily waste collection and sustain cleanliness in Mabaale.

Speaking to Our Reporter, residents, led by their local leaders, pledged to maintain high sanitation standards in Mabaale Town Council, just like other towns in Kagadi District.
However, they appealed to the government to tarmac the town streets, saying excessive dust has negatively affected their businesses by turning away customers.
