MITOOMA- The Police in Mitooma district are investigating circumstances under which a 24 year old woman was allegedly strangled to death.
The incident happened at unknown time of 6th March at Kantojo cell, Mutara Sub- County in Mitooma district and was reported to Police on 7th March 2024 by Tibegarikayo Yorokamu under ref no CRB 144/2024.
The deceased is Akatukunda Annitah a female aged 24 who has been a peasant residing in Kantojo cell, Mutara Sub – county in Mitooma district.
Facts on ground indicate that the deceased on 6th March 2024 at around 12 noon took goats and sheep for grazing, leaving her mother Nashaba Jovelet preparing food.
She delayed to return in the evening, her mother and other relatives tried to trace her until 7th March when she was found dead, tied with a rope around the neck to the tree.
Police were notified, they visited the scene, documented it, recorded some statements and the body of the deceased was taken to Kitagata General Hospital for postmortem.
The Greater Bushenyi Police spokesman SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed this incident to our reporter and stressed that inquiries into the matter are still at hand to have the suspects arrested and be charged according to the law.
