NEWS- A tragic accident on the Kabale – Kisoro road in Rubanda district has left one person dead and sparked investigations by authorities.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday 7th March 2024 around 2:50PM at Rwarubaya village, Nyarurambi parish, Muko Sub County, involved multiple vehicles, including a Mercedes-Benz and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle.
According to preliminary reports from the Rubanda Central Police Station (CPS), the Mercedes-Benz, driven by Kambale Malikanada Japhet, a 36-year-old Congolese national, was traveling towards Kabale when a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, ridden by Mutabazi Sayi, attempted to overtake a trailer.
Tragically, another motorcycle was approaching from the opposite direction, resulting in a collision between the two motorcycles. Both riders lost control, and Sayi fell onto the path of the trailer, succumbing to fatal injuries when the trailer’s tires ran over him.
The Rubanda CPS dispatched officers, led by ASP Wakatuma Alamanzani, to the scene for investigation and documentation. The deceased’s body was recovered, and a postmortem conducted at Muko Health Center IV before being handed over to relatives for burial arrangements.
Currently, the Mercedes-Benz and one motorcycle are held at Rubanda police station for further investigation, while efforts to locate the other motorcycle and its rider are ongoing.
