The Police in Hiima Division are investigating circumstances under which a 28 year old man identified as Muhammad Mande was allegedly lynched by mob.
The deceased together with Thembo Abdallah who are both residents of Nyakabale village Kitswamba Sub-county Kasese district, are said to have been beaten at Sayuni Central Cell in Rugendabara Kikongo Town Council Kasese District after the residents suspected them to be thieves.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed the incident saying that the Police Officers at Kitswamba Police Station were informed and they rushed to the scene, and found the two men being beaten badly.
Maate explained thst while Thembo Abdallah was rescued, Mande Muhammad died while being put on the vehicle and the body was taken to Kasese Municipal Council Mortuary for examination examination as efforts to get those involved are being made so that are brought to book.
Maate urged the people to desist from acts of lawlessness and taking the law into their hands, because the law provides for how suspected persons are supposed to be arrested and handed over to relevant offices for prosecution.
