President M7 arriving at CID today

KAMPALA- President M7 tasks Security minister Jimmy Muhwezi to explain why the suspension of rolling out digital number plates to which the minister replied that there was a simple problem but as of yesterday, the investor was ready to roll it out.

Also asked about the effectiveness of digital number plates in fighting crimes, Muhwezi told the president of a recent incident when a police car was stolen and recovered from Kenya after tracking its digital number plates.

This was after president M7 expressed his readiness to support both the CID and the DPP to create a digital data crime centre which can also help in the solving of sophisticated crimes.   President Musevceni was officiating at the ODPP and CID coordination meeting at CID Headquarter in Kibuli during the two-day meeting that has so been closed today.

“Make use of technical solutions. These technical solutions will help you. Don’t bring business groups or those looking for business and their agents to construct.  I totally support the crime data analysis centre. We shall have to build it and the forensics centre. We shall work on both of them,” Museveni said.   The president further hinted on the proposal by both institutions to have land related matters solved at the village levels rather than being taken to court where they take so many years.

He however warned that Africans / public want full accountability of corrupt politicians, rapists and murderers before they are considered to be released on bail.

”Corruption, which is a big problem, is easy to fight because it is mainly targeting government resources destined for the people. Money is going for roads and drugs to health centres among others are stolen. In all those areas where the money was destined are potential beneficiaries who are denied these services because of corruption. The wananchi who are the victims of corruption will give you information.” Museveni said.
