NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District have instituted investigation into the mysterious circumstances that led to the death of 50 year old man identified as Arinaitwe Emmanuel a resident of Kanyamisindi village in Mukono Ward in Buhoma Town Council.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that Arinaitwe together with another commonly known as “Super Muyaye” had a mattress they wanted to sell to Tumusiime Joan a bar attendant.
However, when Tumusiime declined to buy the mattress at night, the two requested her to keep for them the mattress as they looked for the buyer.
The deceased now started drinking alcohol together with others who included Aguma Steven, Komuhangi Agnes and others until up to midnight and yesterday Arinaitwe went and asked the deceased inquiring if he had sold the mattress and the two developed a misunderstanding where Thursday Emmanuel started slapping the deceased.
Tumusiime Joan tried to stop them from fighting but they continued and then decided to chase them out of the bar and she closed and Tumusiime left the bar, the deceased was seated on the verandah of a building near the road leading to Kanyamisindo, today morning however, was found lying dead just in front of Tumusiime bar.
Maate said that the crime scene was visited and documented by the Scene of Crime Officer and a team of detectives from Butogota Police Station and statements were recorded from key witnesses and a postmortem examination was done at the crime scene and the body was then handed over to the relatives for burial as investigations continue.
