KAMPALA- The Provincial Assembly of the Anglican Church of Uganda has today convened at Uganda Christian University Mukono where they received a Land Title of Church House on Kampala Road, signifying full payment of Ugx 62 billion used to finance the construction of Church House.
Hundreds of Church leaders from the 39 Dioceses are assembled at Uganda Christian University Mukono for the provincial Assembly of Anglican Church in Uganda.
The ongoing assembly that kicked off this morning at Nkoyoyo Hall at Uganda Christian University is chaired by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu.
Before the assembly the Church leaders were sensitized about their role in ensuring economic development by encouraging the public to pay taxes.

This comes after the Government of Uganda lost a number of grants from partners and is struggling to collect the 20 % of the GDP from the current 13.7 % as required by the World Bank for Uganda to achieve middle income status, Kenya stands at 17.7% while Rwanda tops the east African region at 21.3% of GDP collections.
GDP measures the monetary value of final goods and services bought by the final user and produced in a country in a given period of time counts all of the output generated within the borders of a country.
The Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue John Musinguzi Rujoki who is the Chief Guest at the event, urged the Church Leaders to be involved in promoting tax education and awareness so that the country can achieve the desired income for Economic development.

The Provincial Assembly is the supreme governing body for the Church of Uganda and meets every after two years, it is the legislative body that consisting of Houses of Laity, Clergy, Bishops, with each diocese sending representatives to attend.
During the Assembly that opened today morning, Equity Bank handed over the Land Title of the of the Church House along Kampala road to the Church of Uganda, signifying the full completion and hand over of the project to the church of Uganda.
