KAMPALA- The National Resistance Movement candidate Ms Faridah Nambi Kigongo who lost in the Kawempe North by-election has written to Court withdrawing the case she had instructed her lawyers to file.
According a letter dated March 25th 2025, signed by Ms Nambi lawyers of Atwijukire Dennis Advocates addressed to the Chief Magistrate of Kawempe Magistrates Court, they wrote withdrawing the Case Miscellaneous No 22/2025 of Nambi Faridah Kigongo Versus Electoral Commission and Anorher.
It is reported that the above Case, Atwijukire Dennis Advocates represented Ms Nambi Kigongo and had sued the Electoral Commission and Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi who won the Kawempe by-election held on 13th March 2025.
Others in the race for Kawempe North by-election included Engena Edward Maitum, Kasacca Henry Mubiru, Luwemba Mohamed, Mukibi Sadat, Hanifah Karadi, Musiitwa Ismail, Mutazindwa Mohamed, Moses Msereko.
According to the letter withdrawing the case which this Online Publication has seen, Ms Nambi lawyers indicated that the had instructions from their Client to withdraw the case since the 1st Respondent (Electoral Commission) had already gazzated the 2nd Respondent ( Nalukoola Luyimbazi) and thus their application had been overtaken by events.
However, the withdrawal letter was copied to the Electoral Commission and Ms Nambi without indicating Nalukoola Luyimbazi.
