NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda Eng Jornard Asiimwe Akiiki

The newly elected National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda Eng Jornard Asiimwe Akiiki has called on Ugandans to forge a future of unity and progress to develop the region to prosperity.

Asiimwe Akiiki who emerged the winner in the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) after defeating the incumbent Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi who is also the Minister of ICT and National Guidance and 7 others, issued a statement of appreciation to all who supported him and called for Unity.

“I’m deeply humbled and honoured by the trust and confidence that you members and leaders of our great party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), have placed in me by electing as the National Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda ” Asiimwe wrote in a one page statement dated September 3rd.

Asiimwe pledged to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the voices, needs and aspirations of the Western Region and entire Uganda are effectively represented and addressed at the national level and also commit to upholding the values of the NRM while working hand in hand with all comrades to consolidate the achievements of the party and to confront the challenges ahead.

“Let this be a time of renewed unity. Our strength as a party and as a region lies in our ability to come together above personal interests and differences for the greater good of our people and the continued transformation of Uganda ” Asiimwe said.

Asiimwe said that the moment is not just personal milestone but a call to serve with greater commitment, intergrity  and purpose and extended heartfelt gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the Chairman of the National Resistance Movement, the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC), the dedicated party structures and the people of Uganda for the unwavering support extended to him resulting in his victory.

Asiimwe Akiiki emerged the winner after garnered 4044 votes to defeat other 7 candidates for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda followed for Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi who got 2303 votes while Kamugisha Blaise got 339 votes, Byaruhanga Barigye Enoch got 60 votes, Bwengye Lauben Muhangi got 55 votes, Kamuganga Dick Niwamanya got 49 votes, Atuhe Innocent got 11 votes and Micheal Mawanda Maranga got zero.
