KAMPALA – The future of the next generation isĀ multilingual since Uganda is a diverse country with peopleĀ from different walks of life and there is increased outbound travels.
Alliance Francais de Kampala ( AFK) through its flagship program “Njogera Francais ” over the weekend recognized and rewarded exceptional students, teachers and schools who participated in (Diplome d’Etudes en Langue Francaise) DELF Exams.
This was the fourth edition running after it’s inception in 2022.
Speaking at the ceremony, Loic Boivin, the director, AFK said it is a flagship Initiative to motivate and inspire teachers and learners of french to strengthen their relationship and standards as an international language.
” Last year we had 888 students and 32 schools that participated and it is a huge success for us and every one here.
We have had a few challenges and one of them is the resources for the students and we are going to have a discount and give 40 percent for upcountry, we are going to look for sponsors for high performing students and going to extend our services so that students don’t come to AFK kampala for exams and also going to help and support our teachers and community” Loic Added.
Mr. Karim CWINYA’AY, the programs director Njogera Francais noted that the they have awarded the best students and performance had been very good since they started with students having 90 percent but now they have some with 100 percent.
“We improved from the written to oral since we examine them in various aspects of written, reading , spoken and listening comprehension and we are grateful to our partners that have given us funds and been able to visit 37 schools upcountry.” Karim explained .
Mr.David Germain – Robin , Acting head of Cooperation and cultural affairs, French Embassy asserted that they are glad to be apart of the celebrations of Njogera Francais as part of the Francophonie month and are crucial in breeding the next generation of French language speakers in Uganda.
Evelyn Angeyo, Human Resource Manager , CFAO Mobility Uganda one of the partner sponsors said that they are an automobile company with presence all over the world and they have been apart of Njogera Francais since inception with part of their focus in education.
Angeyo said that she was g lad that the project is expanding progressively upcountry and have also worked in- house and some of their staff are already embracing the French language which will help in advancing their career and social development.
Mr. John Hillary Balyejusa, head of communications and Public Relations at Lapaire stated that they are operating in 9 countries in Africa and Uganda and Tanzania are Anglophone.
He emphasized that communication is part and of their programs and they are interested in young people to have proper eye care and also have interest in optometry with another language to build their careers and serve people better .

Simon Tukahirwa, director Karveli restaurant and bakery , and a vivid partner was delighted to say that his connection with French started way back in school and noted that what AFK is doing is a great program and he is glad that they pushed it up country..
He further stressed that they hinge on the French culture and promote the food and this is a partnership they have been working on and he was glad you see more Ugandans speak the language, diplomats and many others.
Mr. Samuel Wandera, APFO, Representative from Kyambogo University said as teachers they have a responsibility of teaching French across the country and most of them learn it in senior 1 and 2 after which they move on to opt for other subjects.
H.E Hugues Chantry , the Belgian Ambassador to Uganda and the Chief guest said it is important to learn French and encouraged people since Uganda’s neighbors speak french and this is an added advantage to them before he congratulated students for their efforts.
M’Mocha Subea Jeanette, the best performing student from Green Hill Academy said tha it gave her confidence and courage to even do do better in studies and she just aiming higher.
